If You Don’t Know…

Ya better ax somebody!

This is the Stormy Present main page, from here you can link to our three arms (sports, society, and politics). This page gives you updates on what is going on through out the site.

For instance, I just posted an article called Fantasy Sports Morality over at the SP Sports page. Read it, embrace it, and realize that I am in fact a genius. Or at least a true sports fan.

And as previously mentioned, good discussion can be found at the Society page concerning what you knew when you where 5, and over at the sports page concerning the Cubs season preview. So nut-up and join in. And of course there is Jim’s running NCAA diary (by the way, I had Davidson in the elite 8 so how clutch am I? Seriously though, Jeff and I saw him destroy CofC last year in the SoCon finals and knew then and there that he was something amazing.)

Full Stride

I just posted something about the Zimbabwean elections that are taking place tomorrow, March 29th. It is over at the Society section. Why the society section and not the political one? You’ll have to read it to find out.

Unfortunately by posting it in the Society section I’ve shoved a piece by Jeff out of the lime light (sorry Jeff). His post is about what you knew when you were 5 years old and it’s obviously something that encourages discussion, so go over there and add your thoughts. Here’s a link to the post itself, or you can just go to the Society section and scroll past my stuff.

Lastly, over at SP Sports Brad’s Cubs season preview post has generated some good thoughts about whether or not a Cubs World Series win would turn their fans into the Chicago equivalent of annoying Red Sox fans, aka Mass-holes. So weigh in with your thoughts, unless you are a Mass-hole in which case you should just go on pretending that your man crush on Tom Brady hasn’t crossed the line into homosexual fantasy.

Guest Post

Our friend Brad Wright stepped up to the challenge and wrote a post for the site. So he has the privilege of being our first guest blogger, but if others would like to follow suit we welcome that.

Brad’s post is a Cubs season preview that looks at a number of things including the excitement for a new season and the somewhat contradictory feelings of being a Cubs fan; wanting them to win the World Series but not wanting to lose that ‘lovable losers’ aura.

It’s a fun read that gets ya geared up for baseball season, so check it out over at SP Sports.

Ch-ch-changes

We’ve been screwing around with the site presentation. Bear with us and give us any suggestions on how to make it look and work better. Also, I posted a quick little joke Paul Mooney tells and how it makes me look racist anytime I try to retell it, which is unfair.

New Politics

Well if you haven’t already checked out Jim’s one-ups-manship of ESPN via his running diary of the NCAA tourney, do so.

But sooner or later you’re going to need a break from sports, so read Jeff’s post on the 2nd Amendment (that’s the one about guns in case you were asleep that day in high school government) and how the theory behind a discussion about the right to bear arms relates to the Presidential race.

March Madness Running Blog

Seeing as the Sports Guy,  sir Bill Simmons, is not keeping a running blog this year, I thought I’d, you know, pick up the slack over here on the east coast. Check it out over on SP Sports, and feel free to jump in and add your own comments (you can’t do that on ESPN’s website, can you?).

Sports Update

Go over to Stormy Present – Sports or SPP, as we are now calling, (the link is on the side bar to the right … yeah, right there … see it … ok good). There you’ll find Jim’s post about the ACC tourney and true fan-dom against all odds.

Also, Jeff will be putting something up on the politics page shortly, so stay tuned.

Update

Just posted an article I wrote a while back, during the Vick dogfighting saga, for a Spartanburg Magazine called The Root. So check it out over at the Stormy Present – Society section.

And We’re Off

Check out the post at The Stormy Present -Politics. It’s about Hillary Clinton’s claim to be experienced, her views on NAFTA, and what kind of experience is best in politics. You can read it by clicking the link on the side bar that says: The Stormy Present – Politics

How This Works (or so we hope)

The best way we could see this working (since none of us are web designers) was to have one page act as the main portal through which you could access three other pages each containing content related to one of our three areas; politics, sports, and culture.

Here at the main portal, www.thestormypresent.wordpress.com, we will have updates about what is going on with the other pages, i.e. announcements about new posts or good comments and discussions, that will alert you as to which page to check out for the newest and best stuff.

So, bookmark this page and then feel free to immerse yourself (read: kill time at work) with musing about politics, sports, and culture from three people who have absolutely nothing better to do than stroke their own egos by believing that other people should be privy to their every thought (just like Chris Matthews).

Thanks for all of y’all who give this a chance to work, and here’s hoping that it does.
